Mumbai: Countdown begins for India (Ind) vs Australia (Aus) seven-match ODI series 2009. India will take on World Champion Australia in the first ODI at Vadodara on October 25. The final match of the series will be played in Mumbai on November 11, 2009.

It will be a clash for honour because Australia will be looking to defend its top position in ODI rankings while India will eye to push kangaroos from their top post.

Indians are only one win away from number one crown in the ICC ODI rankings.

However, it will be a difficult task for Men in Blue to defeat Aussies. Ricky Ponting-led Australia recently thrashed England 6-1 and lifted the Champions Trophy in South Africa.

However, injuries are major concern for Ponting as his deputy Michael Clarke has been ruled out of entire series due to injury while Nathan Bracken and Callum Ferguson will also not available in this series.
